AI search optimization for a flooring company
Homeowners now ask ChatGPT "who installs hardwood in [town] and what does it cost" and get three names and a range. Google's AI Overview does the same above the regular results. The engines read your Google profile, your website, your review text and your other listings, and they quote plain factual sentences. "We install LVP in Lake County from $4 to $8 per square foot including tear-out" gets quoted. "Beautiful floors for beautiful homes" does not.
Most flooring sites give the engines nothing to cite, and 19.5% of flooring companies have no site at all, so the answer goes to a competitor or a national cost aggregator. The second problem is facts that disagree across listings: two phone numbers, "flooring store" on one and "flooring contractor" on another.
At two weeks, working looks like rewritten product pages with quotable sentences, schema in place, every listing aligned, and a baseline of what the engines say about you to compare next month.
