Facebook and Instagram ads for flooring companies: the reveal video, offers that book estimates and retargeting

Flooring is a visual trade, which makes Meta ads work when the creative is a real reveal. The ads, offers, lead forms, budgets and retargeting setup that book in-home estimates.

Nobody opens Instagram looking for a flooring contractor. But almost everyone stops scrolling for a floor reveal: old carpet pulled back, subfloor cleaned, planks going down, then the finished room. Flooring is one of the few trades where the work itself is the ad. Most flooring companies waste that by posting a logo graphic with "Call for a free estimate" and boosting it for $50.

Here is how to run Meta ads that book measures.

Creative that works, in order

  1. The reveal. Thirty to forty-five seconds, phone video, vertical. Three seconds of the old floor, ten seconds of tear-out and prep, fifteen seconds of install, ten seconds of the finished room with the homeowner's reaction if they will allow it. No music needed. A caption with the product, square footage and the town.
  2. The refinish time-lapse. Sanding, stain going on, the first coat drying. Refinishing is dramatic and most people have never seen it done.
  3. The installer explains one thing. "Why we acclimate hardwood for three days before we install it." "What a bad subfloor looks like and why we fix it first." Forty seconds, one person, one point.
  4. The before-and-after still. Split image, same angle. Works as a static ad and costs nothing to make.

What does not work: stock photos of floors you did not install, a designed graphic with five bullet points, a logo animation, and anything that asks people to "like and follow".

The offer

Meta leads are softer than Google leads. The person was not searching; they were interrupted. So the offer has to be easy to say yes to and specific enough to filter.

Offers that book estimates for flooring: "Free in-home measure and same-day written quote", "LVP installed from $X per square foot, tear-out included, through [month]", "Pre-listing hardwood refinish: quote in 48 hours", "Whole-house carpet replacement from $X, financing available". Put a real price range in the ad. It cuts clicks and raises the quality of the ones you get.

Offers that do not: "10% off", "free estimate" with nothing else, "contact us today".

Lead forms versus landing pages

For flooring, Meta's instant lead form, the one that opens inside the app, produces two to three times more leads at a third of the cost of sending people to your website. The catch is quality. Fix it with questions: town, approximate square footage, product interest (dropdown), and timing (this month, 1 to 3 months, just planning). Make the form "higher intent", which adds a review step. Expect $15 to $50 per lead in most metros, $20 to $35 for a good reveal ad.

Then the follow-up has to be immediate. A Meta lead who is texted within two minutes books an estimate at several times the rate of one called the next day. Wire the form to a text that goes out automatically: "Hi [name], this is [installer] from [company]. Thanks for asking about LVP in [town]. When is a good time for a 20-minute measure this week?" The missed-call guide covers the setup.

Targeting

Keep it simple. Radius of 15 to 25 miles around the towns you serve, age 28 to 65, homeowners where the option exists. Let the creative do the targeting: a herringbone reveal attracts the person who wants herringbone. Do not stack interest targets; Meta's system does better with a broad audience and a specific ad.

Exclude renters where you can by phrasing: "homeowners in [county]" in the copy. Exclude your own past customers from the cold campaign using a customer list upload.

Retargeting is where the money is

Most flooring decisions take two to eight weeks. The person who watched 75 percent of your reveal video, visited the LVP page, or opened the lead form and did not finish is worth far more than a cold viewer. Build three audiences: video viewers (75 percent, last 60 days), website visitors (last 90 days), and lead form openers who did not submit (last 30 days). Run one ad to all three at $5 to $10 a day with the current lead time and a direct offer: "Still thinking about the floors? We have two install slots open the week of the 14th."

Retargeting leads run $8 to $25 and close at a much higher rate than cold.

Budget

For a company doing 10 installs a month, $600 to $1,500 a month on Meta is enough to test: $20 to $40 a day on one cold campaign with two or three ads, $5 to $10 a day on retargeting. Under $15 a day you cannot judge anything in two weeks.

At two weeks, working looks like one ad clearly winning on cost per lead, 15 to 40 leads with town and square footage attached, retargeting live, and at least two in-home measures booked from the thread. Ad spend goes to Meta on your own card.

The mistakes

Boosting posts. A boost optimizes for engagement, and engagement does not book a measure. Use Ads Manager with a leads objective.

Sending Meta traffic to the home page. It bounces. Use the lead form or a product page with the price range at the top.

Running the same reveal video for three months. Meta creative wears out in three to six weeks. Shoot a new reveal on every third job; it takes five minutes.

Judging by the first three days. The system needs 30 to 50 leads to settle. Let a campaign run two full weeks before you pull it.

Frequently asked

Do I need an Instagram account to run these? No. You need a Facebook page and an ad account. Instagram placement runs from the same ad. Having an Instagram feed with finished floors does help the person who taps your profile from the ad.

Can I run Meta ads for commercial flooring? Poorly. Property managers and general contractors are better reached on LinkedIn, by email and by phone. See the agency versus DIY guide for where that work belongs.

What about financing offers? They perform well for whole-house jobs above $6,000. "Financing from $X a month" with a real number from your lender beats "financing available".
